We moved the camper again today. We left Florence this morning and continued down the Oregon coast on highway 101 till we hit Reedsport. We then took highway 38 east. It was a really pretty drive since the highway was alongside the Umpqua River. After some more driving we hit Interstate 5. As we progressed southbound on I-5, the air became really smoky and it smelled like a forest fire. We didn't see any flames, but there must have been a fire in the area. We drove a little further and got off at exit 14 to take highway 66 eastbound to our final destination at the Klamath Falls KOA Campground. Traveling highway 66 was very challenging and scary. It was the worst road that I have ever driven the camper on. The road was narrow, uneven, and very curvy as we went up over the mountains and down the other side. When we arrived at the campground they gave us a local map. The map showed highway 66 and it was marked "Not Suitable for RVs". The pictures below are of some of the better sections of highway 66. I pulled them off of the Internet since I was too nervous to stop along the road to take pictures.
The good news is that this weekend the KOA campgrounds are offering a Buy One Get One Free weekend. You stay Friday, you get Saturday for free. Yahooooo.
We are doing the Gettysburg KOA!
