Utah

We left Ely, Nevada this morning and went west on US-50.  The start of the drive was nice, but not much scenery.  It was typical Nevada scenery of flat straight roads, with sage brush and brown grass on each side of the road.  We then crossed over into Utah and the landscape started to change.  We drove past a large lake called Sevier Lake, but it was completely dry, looking more like a desert. We saw a few more mountains and many pine trees.  As we got closer to our destination of Green River, Utah, the views were fantastic.  Valleys and peaks of red rocks everywhere.  We drove through a lot of canyons and up some mountain passes.  Some of the passes were over 7800 feet and there was snow laying on the trees and grass. We put in a long drive today.  Typically we like to drive about 5 hours per day; however, today we drove 7 hours.  We are only 71 miles from the Colorado border.

We are parked at a rest stop.  The temp is about 45 degrees and there is some snow on the ground.
