Banff National Park

We left this morning and headed to Lake Louise in Banff National Park.  However, all the parking lots were full and we were not able to see the lake.  We then decided to just head north.  We ended up driving the entire length of Banff National Park and then drove through Jasper National Park.  The highlights were the numerous glaciers that we saw, the magnificent mountains, the beautiful lakes and streams and the waterfalls.  We didn't see anything exciting in terms of animals.  No bears, moose, elk, caribou, etc. We spent over 12 hours on today's adventure. Didn't get back to the campground till after dark.

Bow Lake
Another pretty mountain lake

A stream that we stopped at to eat our picnic lunch

The Columbia Icefield feeds 8 glaciers.  One of these 8 glaciers is called the Athabasca Glacier and is shown in this picture.  It is 3.7 miles long and is close to 1000 ft thick. You can see some of the vehicles in the foreground to reference how big this glacier actually is.
